We meet every second Wednesday of the month and all are welcome to attend. We start at 6 and end when the wines all gone. At each meeting we select the book for the following month based on recommendations from the group. It’s very casual and a great way to meet new and interesting people.

First Thursdays Cape Town is a free cultural experience where art galleries and other cultural attractions in the central and East city districts stay open late on the first Thursday of every month.

No Syntax’s first First Thursday at NOMAD bistro & bar | No Syntax takes to the stage for the first time at Cape Town’s prestigious First Thursday. The event will be held at NOMAD bistro & bar, followed by the public “Sorry Not Sorry” launch, a deep house party.

It’s 1959; Hawaii had just been recognised as a US state, the LA Dodgers won the World Series, Frank Sinatra won his first Grammy and Rydell High School’s senior class is in top form. The too-cool-for- school “Burger Palace Boys” are stealing hub-caps and acting tough while their gum-chewing, Fabian-loving “Pink Ladies” are looking hot in bobby socks and pedal pushers.

Boy Ntulukazi | 3 – 13 May 2017
The 2017 Baxter Best of Zabalaza Theatre Festival winner Boy Ntulikazi.
The play was originally performed at the Isigcawu Festival in Durban, where Thobani Nzuza received the Best Actor award. Later it was performed at the Imbewu Festival, DUT New Playwright’s Festival and the National Arts Festival, to great success.

Mirage, A solo exhibition by Kirsten Beets| 5 April – 13 May 2017

99 Loop
Growing Gatherings
This two-person exhibition looks at the ways in which natural growth can be explored in photography, painting & installation through patterning, juxtaposition and recontextualisation.
99 Loop is delighted to be exhibiting the unique work of two artists, who use plastics and found objects to create their intricately patterned work. Mohamed-Luke works with Lego-style bricks to build graphic two-dimensional works exploring religion and politics and the dialogues we need to have around them, while Mason creates intricate dot patterns from metal bottle tops which have been flattened and painted, in an exploration of surface, formalism & the demands between artist, audience and gallery.
