Friday 3 November 2017
Creating a Desirable Future
From the colonial era to the outset of the post-colonial era, the grand narrative of African society has been one steeped in reactionary approaches to shifts in global matters and perspectives. Discussions on the prominent issues faced by the African continent and how best to overcome them, are often centered on the topic of development; but more specifically economic growth. This is often coupled with the call for an extensive re-imagining of contemporary social systems and institutions; under the banner of decolonization. But how does a society move from a reactionary position to one where it shapes a future of its own choosing; without an understanding of how and what it gives meaning to?
