Orphanage Presents: Tiki Tuesdays With Havana Club
Tiki Tuesdays are back. Along with our esteemed friends Havana Club, we present a weekly session of tomfoolery, fueled with Havana Rum Concoctions and soulful music courtesy of our special guest bards.

Needle Felting uses wool roving and a special barbed needle to create amazing works of art. Felting is simply stabbing the wool over and over with your needle. Stabbing a piece less, makes a soft looking project while stabbing it more, causes it to become quite firm. During this workshop, you will experience that needle felting is a wonderful craft and very easy to get started in.

Llandudno History and Yoga Morning
Join the authors of book Life of Llandudno. Decide how you would like to enjoy the morning, you can start with beach side yoga, we then head for breakfast at Stony Croft, one of the original cottages in Llandudno. After we take a meander around our beautiful bay to see the likes of the oldest house in Llandundo, the dilorite dyke, Khoisan midden, WW2cannon, caves and many others places of interest.  Either yoga and breakfast (9-11am) or breakfast and walk (10am-12pm) or choose to do all 3.

The bizarre, comedic and true story of what happens when a girl from the Cape Flats gets involved with a Jew-ish boy from Joburg’s East Rand!

This one-woman piece sees ‘Chantal’, a girl from the Cape Flats, navigating a world of new Jewish experiences, from meeting the boyfriend’s family at her first shabbos ever to late-night benching (no, not the gym kind)! She wrestles with confusion over her identity and the various labels that are placed on her while trying to understand Yiddish (oy vey!), gefilte fish and decades-old faribels! She deals with the confusion over what to wear to a bris (ritual circumcision of infant boy) and being questioned about her afro hair.

WHATIFTHEWORLD is pleased to present Queens in Exile –  a major solo exhibition of new work by Athi-Patra Ruga.

Queens in Exile is about telling better stories. This isn’t simply a revisionist exercise, patching up inconvenient holes in the historical record. Instead, Ruga excavates collective memory and exclusionary national myth to rebuild both in wholly new shapes – to make a world where the exiled can reign. The result is a land of many queens, lost and found and forgotten.

Until 28 February 2018 | Through Positive Eyes is an exhibition which builds on the work of South African photographer Gideon Mendel, harnessing the power of the arts to banish HIV stigma.

Until 31 May 2018 |  ‘Alternative Press’ – Work of Derek Bauer
Is an exhibition of original cartoons dedicated to the talent of cartoonist Derek Bauer. He became well-known for his inherently irreverent cartoons and caricatures of politicians and other prominent figures during the troubled and Apartheid-stricken South Africa and the turbulent world in the 1980s.

Iziko South African Museum
Until 31 December 2017 | Crossing the Ecoline
Between the atmosphere and the ocean – at the point where the absorption of carbon dioxide takes place – is the “ecoline”. This is where two environments interconnect.

The Bo-Kaap Museum, situated in the historic area that became home to many Muslims and freed slaves after the abolition of slavery, showcases local Islamic culture and heritage.

Groot Constantia Manor House with its exhibition of furniture, paintings, textiles, ceramics, brass, and copperware, provides an insight into the life of a successful 18th to late 19th century Cape farmer.

Koopmans-de Wet House
This house museum is furnished as a home for a well-to-do Cape family during the late 18th Century. It houses some of the best pieces of Cape furniture and silver in the country, in addition to a priceless collection of ceramics.

The Iziko Maritime Centre features an overview of shipping in Cape Town, and the earliest existing model of Table Bay harbour, completed in 1885 by prisoners and warders of Breakwater Prison, forms part of the exhibitions.

The Iziko Planetarium and Digital Dome, one of only 6 fully fledged planetaria on the African Continent, brings the most advanced digital visualisation technology to Cape Town.

Rust en Vreugd was built as a home for Willem Cornelis Boers, a high-ranking official of the VOC (Dutch East India Company) known as a fiscal, around 1777–1778.

Social History Centre
After a three-year programme of renovation and extension of the National Mutual Building on Church Square, it was handed back to Iziko during a media preview event held on International Museum Day, 18 May 2010.
